SAN DIEGO, June 5 (International Friendly) - Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero were the architects as Argentina romped to a comfortable win over Mexico at Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego.

Argentina took the lead after 10 minutes when Nicolas Burdisso converted a Maxi Rodriguez free-kick.

Seven minutes later Messi finished off a good move involving Aguero and Julio Cruz.

And Argentina extended their lead to three when Maxi Rodriguez took advantage of a defensive mistake to score.

Mexico, who installed Sven-Goran Eriksson as manager on Tuesday, improved early in the second half, with Zinha netting.

However, Messi assisted Aguero, who netted Argentina's fourth after 70 minutes.

Both teams continue their warm-ups for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers next Sunday.

Mexico will meet Peru in Chicago, while Argentina will clash with United States in New Jersey. Argentina are in second place of the World Cup qualifying table with nine points - one below leaders Paraguay - and will play Ecuador and Brazil on June 14 and 18 respectively.
